Wage: $18-21/hr. DOE.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Eligibility Specialist assists patients with Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Eligibility Determination process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify patients without insurance and contact them by mail or phone to inform them about Siskiyou Community Health Center’s eligibility determination process.
- Assist individuals with completing applications for the Oregon Health Plan and the Sliding Fee Discount Program.
- Answer questions from individuals, patients, and co-workers regarding the Oregon Health Plan and the Sliding Fee Discount Program.
- Communicate with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to determine the status of an application.
- Verify insurance coverage with Oregon Health Plan and set up the insurance information in the patient’s chart.
- Attend community events to promote the Oregon Health Plan and Siskiyou Community Health Center’s eligibility determination process.
- Work with community partners to identify individuals who may benefit from enrollment services.
- Attend required meetings and trainings and share information with coworkers.
- Confidentiality, punctuality, excellent attendance, and ethical conduct are required.
- Other Billing department duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Computer competency, including word processing and data entry.
- Effective customer relations skills, demonstrating the ability to work with diverse groups in a stressful environment, and displaying an understanding of group dynamics.
- Strong organizational skills and effective use of time.
- Ability to prioritize work and stay on task with little supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, carrying, sitting, and driving an automobile. Vision and hearing corrected to within normal range. Physical mobility within clinic.
HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS:
- Minimal exposure to infectious diseases.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- 100% office-based.
- Occasional evening or weekend work required.

- Computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copier, multi-line phone system, private automobile, and/or cellular phone.
